Marc
A. Hafso, President, assumed duties as president
of the WA-ACDA effective July 1, 2009. Marc's term run until June 30, 2011. He is Professor and Director
of Choral and Vocal Activities at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. He
attended Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Arizona and
Michigan State University, where he earned B.A., M.M., and D.M.A.

Leora
Schwitters,
Vice-President, retired after 25 years in public education in 2006,
most of which was at the junior high level in Kent, WA. She holds
a B.M. from the Yankton College Conservatory of Music in South
Dakota and a M.A.T. from the University of Washington. She now
directs Rainier Youth Choirs. Active as a clinician and adjudicator,
Leora serves on the board of the Tahoma Chapter of NATS and has
presided over the Green River Music Region organization. She

Lori Wiest was elected president-elect. She will become president July 1, 2011. Dr. Wiest is Associate Professor of Music at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington where she is Director of Choral Activities and the conductor of the WSU Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers. She teaches Choral Conducting and graduate courses in Choral History/Literature and Choral Conducting. ACDA is divided into seven geographic regions
and fifty state chapters. National conventions are held in February
or March of odd numbered years and divisional conventions take place
during the same time of year in even numbered years. If you are a choral director, we urge you to join ACDA. You will find a cordial welcome and hundreds of colleagues. Our publications and conventions provide a wealth of practical ideas and a forum for developing your skills. You can also enjoy the links to some of our colleges and university choral programs as well as find information on many community, professional, and children's choral groups in the state.
